Connecting With God

At St. John’s, our biggest desire is to see people connect with God in a meaningful, personal way. That can be difficult if you don’t know where to start, so here are some ideas we hope you find helpful.

PRAY. Some people use the word PATH as an acronym model for prayer you may find helpful:

P=Praise
A=Acknowledge things I’ve done wrong and ask for forgiveness
T=Thank
H=Help (Ask God for help with something or pray for someone else, asking God to help.)

Although some find using this acronym helpful, there is no real formula for prayer; no right or wrong way to pray. Just talk to God like you would a person. Ask Him to help you see Him and know Him.

GET IN COMMUNITY. Come to church to worship and to learn in large or small groups. There are many opportunities to learn with others about God. Remember, NO ONE, not even pastors, has all the answers, so it doesn’t matter how much you know or don’t know. There is NEVER a dumb question in God’s house!

SERVE. When we care for others in this world, we are extending God’s love. When we serve as an expression and response to our love for Jesus, we not only help a hurting world, but we draw closer to God. Serving makes love visible!

Let us help you connect, encounter and respond to the LOVE Jesus has for YOU! Please contact the church or Pastor Koenig for more help on connecting with God.
