Gloria in robe

Greetings, web-friends.  It’s good to be with you, again.

Here’s something that I recently shared with the Confirmation students, here, and that I thought you might enjoy reading.

Gloria's Sheep

This is a Counting Sheep. He’s one of the spokes-critters for the Serta Mattress Company.

Jesus tells us that he’s the Good Shepherd.  A Good Shepherd should have Good Sheep, right?

As Christians, we don’t want to be good Counting Sheep.  We want to be good Sheep That Count.

Something that “counts” makes a difference.  It’s significant.   Every vote counts in an election, for instance.

Likewise, Sheep That Count do something important.  They work toward feeding the hungry, sheltering the homeless, protecting the vulnerable.

They’re generous with their time and money.  They look out for other people.  They keep their eyes and ears open, eager for opportunities to serve someone else.

A Counting Sheep’s mission is to bore an insomniac to sleep.  A Sheep That Count’s mission to change a small part of the world by showing what Jesus’ love looks like in everyday life.

Which one do you want to have around?  Which one do you want to be?

That’s my mini-message for you, for today.  Blessings on what you do to count.

Bye for now,

Deacon Gloria
