Our youth program is geared for youth 6th-12th grades and their families.
At St. John’s we believe that it is important to give the youth time to connect with each other and more importantly with Christ outside the structure of Worship and formal education. In youth group we are a Christ-centered community. This community gives the youth a chance to dream about, question, and grow their faith, and gives them the opportunity to live, dream and question their faith with others who are on the same path.
The current pandemic situation has challenged our idea of community and how we practice community. We “gather” on Zoom twice a week; once for games and once for discussion. When possible we meet with safe protocols in place. Our youth are able to participate at their comfort level and feel safe while doing so.
Each time we meet, we share our highs and lows for the week. It’s a great way to check in with each other and be able to care for each other. We also make time to spend time together in prayer.
We also have a Confirmation program for youth in 6th, 7th, and 8th graders preparing to affirm their baptisms in 9th grade. We are currently offering both an in person program as well as an online program. We ask that those youth attend worship on a regular basis, engage in service activities, and monthly classes.
