On Good Friday, April 17, St. John’s Lutheran Church will have a worship service at 8PM. (Tenebrae)  The word “Tenebrae” is Latin for shadows.  The Tenebrae service was originally for Good Friday and recreates the emotional aspects of the passion story.  There are scripture readings, solemn hymns and the extinguishing of candles as the service progresses until the entire sanctuary is left in darkness. At this point the service ends, but the story of Christ is unfinished and it continues on Easter Sunday when we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus.
