Despite the inclement weather that kept us from having Rally Day outdoors, the turn-out was fantastic and the event a smashing success! There were ministry tables set up to educate the congregation about the various ministries and activities going on at St. John’s. If you were unable to come, here are the highlights of those tables:
ALTAR GUILD-The Altar Guild is a worship prep team who work to make sure everything is set up before worship and put away afterwards. It doesn’t take much time and people work on a rotating basis, so volunteers serve about once every 3-4 weeks.
Please consider helping with this important ministry!
SOCIAL MINISTRY--The table highlighted the Food Pantry, advertised fall events: Fill the Truck (Mid-Hudson Love Inc event), Harvest Sunday, Giving Tuesday & Christmas Baskets and listed organizations supported by the St. John’s Social Ministry Team.
PARISH CARE--Offered Emergency Card updates for people to fill out and had the sign-up sheet available for the September 25th Blood Drive. They offered literature about health related topics.
EVANGELISM TEAM--This team is trying something NEW this year and is hosting a Trunk or Treat community event on October 22 from 2-4pm. They need 15 “Car Hosts” in order to hold the event. A person who hosts a car, decorates their trunk and comes to church to offer candy to children in attendance who come around to the different cars (trunks). Candy can be purchased by the Car Hosts or will be supplied by the Evangelism Team. Sign-up in the church office as a Car Host by October 2 in the
HOSPITALITY –This team had many pictures of past events they have sponsored such as the Christmas Extravaganza, Senior Luncheons, Coffee Hours and Bunco Nights to name a few. The ladies are currently signing up people for the Chalk Talk Event on October 8 which will include a Program (5pm) and Spaghetti & Meatball Dinner (6pm). Sign-ups for that are available in the church office.
The Hospitality ladies had an additional table where they offered face painting to the children.
If you would like any more info about these ministries and activities, don’t hesitate to contact Jeanne and she will get you in contact with leaders! jjones@stjohnselc.org 845-451-1550
Rally Day is also about the beginning of JAM starting the 2022-23 year, community building, lots of food and of course the Bouncy House! The rain sort of hampered the activity at the Bouncy House, but some die-hard kids still had a great time despite the drizzle!
Thanks to…
all the leaders who organized the event, especially members of the Youth Ministry and Children’s Ministry Mission Teams
the many cooks/bakers who brought food items
people who moved items at the last minute to hold the event indoors
the chefs who cooked all those burgers and ‘dogs
the ministry leaders who hosted tables to showcase St. John’s activities and ministries
to Bouncy Time Party Rentals for the discounts and faithful service
folks who pitched in to clean up
and to the lovely people of St. John’s who supported this event financially and with their presence.
We are grateful to ALL!
